FotoFacial SR/SRA

FotoFacial treatments revolutionized the non-invasive cosmetic skincare industry. A little over a decade ago, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) (also called FotoFacial or Photofacial) machines hit the market and a renewed focus on reversing the signs of aging began. Dr. Rueckl was one of the first physicians in Nevada to introduce IPL to his practices. Today, these machines have advanced tremendously, as have the results. Our technicians have done 150,000 procedures and have thousands of patients who are thrilled with their results. If you want results, rejuvenated skin, and the direct care of a Board-Certified Dermatologist, the only place to come for your FotoFacial skin treatments is here.

What is a FotoFacial and what does it do?

We use Syneron's SR (Skin Rejuvenation) and SRA technologies to rejuvenate and treat brown spots, melasma, pigmented lesions, broken capillaries, rosacea, and general skin tone and texture. Syneron's technologies are some of the most advanced on the market, providing excellent results with no downtime. Syneron's unique dual energies of intense pulsed light and Radio Frequency (RF) allow us to treat deeper pigments and areas that can't be treated with other traditional lasers and machines. For more on the science behind Syneron's advanced technology and a gallery of before and after photos, please visit www.syneron.com.

As your treatment series progresses, you will see noticable improvement, including the reduction or elimiation of blemished areas, lightening of brown sun and age spots, an improvement in general skin tone and texture, and less overall redness. This is a effective treatment method for both men and women, and for those in any stage of the aging process. FotoFacial treatments need to be done as a series, usually of five treatments. Your initial treatments will be done every 3-4 weeks. After that, maintenance treatments are recommended every 3-6 months to maintain the effects. These maintenance treatments will be offered at reduced rates.

Because FotoFacial treatments are non-ablative (no tissue is removed), they can easily be done any day or time as you can put on makeup and return to normal activities. There is no downtime.

What areas are treated with FotoFacial?

FotoFacial treatments are usually done to the full face, and sometimes the neck and chest. Hand and arms treatments can also be done. Sometimes we do flashes on other areas of the body, such as the legs, back, etc. for blemishes left from prior surgeries, biopsies, or other injuries. FotoFacials are safe for any part of the body.

What is a FotoFacial treatment like?

Before you begin FotoFacial treatments, you will discuss the procedure with Dr. Rueckl or one of the certified technicians, sign a consent, and if desired, take pre-treatment photos. Prior to your treatment a topical numbing cream will be applied to the area being treated to reduce any associated discomfort. Many offices charge extra for topical anesthetics but we have always believed that your comfort should come first, so we include this at no charge for any procedures in our offices. The topical cream is kept on for about 15-20 minutes.

To perform the treatment, your technician will use the Syneron system and SR/SRA treatment applicator(s). A cold conductive gel will be applied and the area will be pre-treated with a cold air chiller. Not only will this make the treatment less painful, but cooling the top layers of skin allows the RF to penetrate deeper into the skin, further heating the underlying areas to address pigments. Some offices do not do this step of the treatment, but the clinical papers show that it does yield better results. The treatment tip will be applied to the skin and a flash (similar to a camera flash) will pulse into the skin and target the appropriate areas. Multiple passes will be done to each area for the best results. Many offices simply do a single pass with their machines, but our technicians have been trained to do multiple passes and pulses. This allows the skin to achieve better results, faster. While other offices will offer their IPL treatments for less money, the results you will see are also significantly less. A FotoFacial at our offices takes 45-60 minutes for a full face, not the 15 minute treatments that other offices often do. With FotoFacials, there should not be a significant amount of pain, but some areas of the body may be more sensitive than others. At worst, each pulse should have what can be compared to a rubberband snap in the most sensitive areas, which tend to be the spots closer to the bone, like the jawline and forehead. Never should you feel so much pain that the procedure is intolerable.

When the area has been fully treated, your technician will apply hydrocortisone to any needed sites. Also, sunscreen will be applied to any exposed areas.

During the course of your FotoFacial series, your technician may include Laser Genesis/Vasculite treatments to address surface redness and small facial veins or broken capillaries. This procedure will often be done at no additional cost to you. Additionally, you might see Dr. Rueckl during the course of your series for sclerotherapy to larger facial veins and/or liquid nitrogen to larger or deeper brown spots, which are also included with your series pricing, as a value-added benefit for you. We believe we offer the best treatments and want you to see significant improvements in your skin.

What kind of results can I expect from a FotoFacial treatment?

Your skin may appear slightly red or warm for a few hours after the treatment, similar to a light sunburn. Rash-like mild edema or erythmia may be present. You can apply hydrocortisone to these sites. Makeup can be applied immediately after a treatment and you can resume any normal activities. There is no downtime with this procedure.

After your first treatment, your skin will feel smoother and will have a more even tone. In some cases, especially if you have a lot of dark spots, your skin may experience "coffee-grounding" which is pigmentation breaking up and lifting to the surface of the skin for exfoliation. This can just be rubbed off and it's a sign of improvement!

You should have realistic expectations and remember that multiple treatments are needed.

How much does FotoFacial cost?

FotoFacial treatments are normally done in a package of five treatments. Treatments for the face begin at $2,500 for a package. Additional areas, such as the neck or chest, can be added for an additional fee. Prices for other body parts will need to be priced during a free consulation. After you have completed an initial package of five treatments, maintenance FotoFacial treatments are offered at significantly reduced prices.

Our prices are based upon our technicians' high level of experience, the care you receive, our value-added benefits, the direct supervision of a Board-certified dermatologist, and the consumable costs for our treatments. While other offices may offer different pricing structures, we are confident that you will not receive the same level of care from any other facility.
